HISTORY
Corgan was founded by Jack M. Corgan in 1938. As an avid pilot, he first oversaw the design of movie theaters and drive-ins throughout the Southwest which were located within the range of his small plane. Corgan’s identity as a pilot is reflected in the firm’s involvement in many aviation industry projects. Including aviation, Corgan Associates focuses on education, corporate, interior design, healthcare and critical facilities where each field has a single design studio devoted to it.

History:
OMA was founded in 1975 by Rem Koolhaas, Elia and Zoe Zenghelis and Madelon Vriesendorp as a collaborative office practicing architecture, urbanism, and cultural analysis. The firm’s trademark is designing a structure that has the capability of having many different applications using the same space.(1)
Two buildings that exemplify this idea of multi-use space are Maison a Bordeaux and the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre. While Maison a Bordeaux is a residence and the theater is a commercial project, both use simple mechanical systems to raise and lower platforms, seating, ceilings, and other aspects of the structure to adapt to whatever is needed out of the building.

Backround:
Born November, 17 1944, Rem Koolhaas began his career as a film journalist and scriptwriter. After studying architecture in London and Ithaca, he founded OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) in 1975, which continues to grow and oversee projects all over the world. He is also a published author writing ‘Delirious New York’, ‘S,M,L,XL’, and ‘Project on the city’, all of which deal with the connections between architecture and urban areas. While being a Harvard professor of architecture, he also continues to have a hand in many projects through OMA.
