History:
Asymptote Architecture was co-founded by Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture in 1989. Hani Rashid was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1958. He spent most of his youth growing up in England and Canada. He received his Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and received his Masters in Architecture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His partner, Lise Anne Couture, a fellow Canadian, also graduated from Carleton with a degree in architecture as well as finishing Yale’s architecture program. Asymptote’s style is very modern, innovative, and unique.  Rashid describes his style as “adequately neurotic, slightly fanatic and inquisitive as hell”. The firms works have utilized large, curved, deformed planar shapes. Depending on the project, the firms building can have a very fluid feel, such as the Strata Tower, or a very edgy look, such as the Dubai International Financial Center. Asymptote is currently constructing projects in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. These projects primarily include global economic centers and luxury residencies.
