History:
Austin started out as Austin Brothers Bridge Company in 1894 when George and Frank Austin teamed up to form their own bridge building company in Dallas. In 1918, they decided to primarily focus on bridge fabrication, and the contracting part of the company was purchased by Charles R. Moore, who changed the name to Austin Bridge Company and Associated Companies in 1924. In 1974, Austin Industries, the parent company of Austin Commercial , was formed as the company began to diversify their portfolio. Austin Commercial was founded one year later as the company began to enter the commercial building market. Today Austin Industries maintains three branches: Austin Bridge & Road, Austin Commercial, and Austin Industrial (founded in 1983).

In 1986, Charles Moore’s grandson, William T.Solomon, transferred 60 percent ownership of the company to its employees at no cost and set up a plan for the company to be completely employee-owned by the year 2000. This plan worked out, and today Austin Industries exists as an employee stock ownership plan, or ESOP, company.

Austin Commercial now operates in 10 offices spanning five states, and is one of the largest and most diversified commercial construction companies in the United States.

Architectural Engineers Collaborative
3800 North Lamar Blvd., Suite 330
Austin, Texas 78756
512 472 2111

History:

Architectural Engineers Collaborative (AEC) was founded by Chuck Naeve, who has “managed structural engineering projects and business activities of engineering firms for over thirty years.”  AEC has a reputation of working closely with architects to generate structural solutions that enhance the architectural ideas and principles of a project.  The firm has performed work on many high profile projects in Austin, Texas and is known for working with architects that want the structure to be a visible part of the architecture. Chuck says his firm specializes in  retrofitting and repurposing structures wherein they “work with the existing bones” of a building to generate beautiful structural solutions.  A grand example of this (found below) is the Long Center for the Performing Arts, in downtown Austin.  One of the firm’s more recent projects, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015, is the Austin Bergstrom International Terminal East Infill.  If you are travelling abroad to or from Austin Texas, you will undoubtedly walk beneath AEC’s elegant work.

History
Bay & Associates was founded in August 2000 by Ed Bay, who has worked with some of the leading National Developers and Architects on a wide array of projects.

“In retrospect, August 2000 may not have been the best time to begin a new company. Austin was on the brink of the dot-com bust. The entire economy soon would slow with the technology sector. The firm started out with four professionals with a “can-do” spirit and a philosophy of doing business a different way. With the hard work and dedication of this small group, the company soon thrived and grew during a time when other firms were shrinking.

Ed brought more than 20 years of mechanical engineering and project management experience from Houston- and Austin-based consulting engineering firms. And the new firm delivered what clients needed—engineering solutions tailored to meet their budgets and expectations.

The result was a solid foundation of return business. And return business—which continues to hit 80% or better—fueled growth. Bay & Associates, Inc. now employs a full time staff of 18, including three licensed professional engineers and, as of this writing, 9 LEED AP professionals.” (Source)

History:

The company was founded by a group of construction and architecture professionals, led by Ian Macpherson, who left Bovis in 1990 hoping to bring in some new, more collaborative ways of working in the traditionally combative construction industry.

The Mace startup team got its first break in 1997 when it beat Bovis and was appointed as project and construction managers on British Airways’ Waterside headquarters at Heathrow.[2] The company went on to deliver the London Eye on the South Bank and The Venetian in Macau. In early 2009 Mace was appointed to deliver the fixed price The Shard tower above London Bridge station.[3]

Mace has grown by combining commercial construction with moves into the public sector (where it now delivers project management to local authorities, delivery of schools and academies and healthcare consultancy) and infrastructure, including aviation, rail, water, highways and a number of large scale waste and energy management programmes around the British Isles.

Mace rebranded in 2008, becoming Mace Group, expanding its service offer, spanning consultancy services and construction across the entire property life cycle.
