Biography:
Norman Kurtz was born in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Princeton where he received a mechanical engineering degree in 1958 (1). Upon graduation, Kurtz attended Stanford University where he completed a M.S. in mechanical engineering. Kurtz returned later in his life to Princeton as an “adjunct professor of engineering in the School of Architecture” (1).

“After the 1970’s fuel crisis, Mr. Kurtz, a mechanical engineer, worked with architects, developers, builders and other engineering partners to advance the concept of “green” architecture and energy efficiency in projects like the World Financial Center.” (1) Kurtz was the founder and chairman of Flack and Kurtz, the company which he remained with until his death in 2005.
