Number of Employees:

46

Design Philosophy:

MAD’s design focuses on harmony with the natural environment while simultaneously embracing contemporary art forms.  “MAD develops its unique concept of futurism through a persistent investigation of the symbiotic potentials amid nature and technology. MAD aspires to design in close harmony with nature, offering people the freedom to develop independent urban experiences.”

Founder:

Yansong Ma

Ma Yansong received his Master of Architecture from Yale in 2002. Following his graduate studies, he worked as a project designer for Zaha Hadid Architects in London and Eisenman Architects in New York. In 2004 Ma founded MAD. Since MAD’s founding, Ma has distinguished himself as one of the most influential young architects in the industry.

History:

MAD is a relatively new firm, but what they lack in longevity they compensate for with shear boldness.  MAD was founded in 2004, since then they have completed three projects with another seven projects currently under construction.  Their projects have won several awards and distinctions: such as the Absolute Towers international competition MAD won in 2006.

Selected Projects:

Meadow Clubhouse

China Wood Sculpture Museum

Fake Hills

The Absolute Towers

Urban Forest
