FIRM HISTORY
In 1988, Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos founded UNStudio with a focus on urban development and infrastructure. Since its founding, UNStudio has expanded outside of the Netherlands and been a part of numerous projects across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, focusing on large scale projects and design competitions involving high creativity. The firm is currently seeking to expand its work in Asia with the opening of the Shanghai office in 2009. UNStudio is highly focused on environmental sensitivity, coining the term “attainability” in the office referring to the special interest in the unity of affordability and sustainability.
