History:
David Chipperfield Architects was founded by David Chipperfield himself in 1984. The firm soon took on international fame with many large projects featured in Germany and the UK.  There is no predetermined style linked to the firm; they seek to connect to what the bulding should do and how the public should perceive it. David Chipperfield Architects is a firm that is involved with every step of the building process, from concept of design to constuction completion. David Chipperfield has over 50 international competition wins, and design excellence awards including those from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) , RFAC (Royal Fine Art Commission) , and AIA (American Institute of Architects)

Currently, the firm is working on completing around 30 projects located in the United States, Europe, and China. (1)

Sir David Chipperfield

Born in London in 1953, David Chipperfield went on to study at Kingston School of Art and later received his diploma from the Architectural Association in London. After graduating he went on to work for Douglas Stephen, Richard Rogers, and Norman Foster. It was through the formation of his own firm (David Chipperfield Architects) did Chipperfield rise to international recognition. In 2004 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), in 2006 he was made Royal Designer for Industry, and in 2007 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and an Honorary Member of the BDA (Bund Deutscher Architekten). Chipperfield was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the highest honor bestowed on an individual for services to the country. And lastly, Chipperfield was knighted in 2010 for services to architecture.
