Paul Weidlinger

Paul Weidlinger was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1914, and studied at the Technical Institute in Brno, Czechoslovakia, and at the Swiss Polytechnic Institute. Paul Weidlinger pioneered in the fields of high-rise buildings and high-strength concrete, and he collaborated with many renowned twentieth-century architects, including Marcel Breuer, Gordon Bunschaft, Walter Gropius, Eero Saarinen, and José Luis Sert. He founded his engineering firm, Paul Weidlinger in 1949. In 2004, Weidlinger received the National Grand Conceptor Award, the top engineering award from the American Consulting Engineers Council, for an in-depth investigation of the World Trade Center collapses. He died in 1999, but to this day, Weidlinger Associates Inc. continues his tradition of excellence in structural engineering. (Research By – Fan Feng, Nicole Brischetto)
