Ramboll was founded in 1945 by Borge Johannes Ramboll and Johan Georg Hannemann as Ramboll & Hannemann. In the beginning the firm focused on broadcasting towers made of steel. Over the years the company grew to be a large international company. The firm grew significantly from the 1950’s to the 1960’s with 25 employees to 170 employees. The merger with Scandiaconsult in 2003 put Ramboll on the map as the largest consultant in the Nordics[1]. Ramboll spread to the United Kingdom in 2007 by joining a company that was founded in 1983 called Whitbybird. Whitbybird was founded by Mark Whitby. This merger allowed Ramboll to offer a wider array of services, knowledge, and talent[2].  Now the firm has about 200 offices around the world which gives them the ability to complete almost any type of project around the world.   The firm’s main focus on their projects is building sustainability. They are also a world leader in integrated design and contributor of research and development. The firm is currently working on a wide variety of projects throughout Europe and the Middle East where they range from buildings to oil and gas pipelines.
