History:
WSP Cantor Seinuk is a member of the WSP group. WSP was founded in the UK in the 1970’s and it acquired the American companies Cantor Seinuk and Flack + Kurtz in 2000. Cantor Seinuk, formed by Irwin Cantor and Ysrael Seinuk in 1971, is a renowned Structural Engineering firm that evolved largely as a result of its work in New York City. Buildings like the Helmsley Palace, which was the first use of high strength concrete in New York, and the Trump Tower reveal the ingenuity of Cantor Seinuk. The firm specializes in high-rise buildings of all types (apartments, commercial, etc.) and frequently employs concrete, steel, and post-tensioning techniques (3).
Cantor Seinuk prides itself on being a field leader with over 100 awards of engineering excellence during its 40 years and has completed billions of dollars worth of work within the United States and elsewhere. Working with high-rises creates unique site challenges–working around exising infrastructure, creating complex foundations, respecting nearby, existing structures, etc– which the firm handles with creative solutions within on-time, economically efficient projects. Such challenges have made Cantor Seinuk a “top-tier” engineering firm which has worked on 60% of all major buildings in New York City in the last 10 years (4). Today, as part of the WSP group, Cantor Seinuk has worked on many international projects including the Al Asima Tower in Kuwait and the ALM Tower in the UAE, among many others.
The firm continues to grow and be recognized as a superb structural engineering company.
